APPLICATION OF CATHOLIC SOCIAL JUSTICE PRINCIPLES/ RELATED TO NURSING
Reflection offers the student the opportunity to consider how personal experiences and
observations shape thinking and acceptance of new ideas. Reflective writing can help to
improve analytical skills because it requires expression of thought. Reflective analysis asks
individuals to acknowledge that thoughts are shaped by assumptions and preconceived ideas.
Reflection is an important part of making connections between theory and practice. Students
are asked to assess the Catholic Social Justice Principles based on individual observations and
practice and evaluate own knowledge and skills within the nursing profession. This opportunity
to take the time to think about individual choices, actions, successes, and opportunities for
improvement.
Directions: Students will write a reflection paper to address how the student has utilized the
seven Christian Social Justice Principles. The student should address all the questions outlined
below in the analytical reflection and lessons from the reflection for each Social Justice
Principle. A minimum of 8 pages including the title page is required. Note if clients are involved,
client anonymity should be maintained. Ensure the writing of this reflection is thorough and
specific to evaluate your learning and implementation of the Social Justice Principles. Review
