For this assignment, get ready to conduct historical research. Scour history textbooks, encyclopedias, library books, and history museums (in-person or online websites); and even check out this YouTube link: “Lance Geiger, the ‘History Guy’” to discover a topic of historical significance that interests you.
However, in addition to a topic that interests you, ensure that there is a problem-based exigency for your research topic for this assignment and that your research focus helps you accomplish one of the following goals in this assignment:
Seeks relationships between events from the past and their connections to the present
Assesses the past to aid in our understanding of the human culture presently
Then, in this assignment, report your findings and draw conclusions on a historical subject matter that responds to the problem-based exigency and the goal you chose to focus on from the above list.
In the Finalized Assignment
Creatively determine how you can incorporate required secondary and required primary source information into this assignment. (Primary Sources: qualitative (interview and observation) and quantitative (survey) research methodologies are all required). You must incorporate at least 5-6 varied secondary sources and cite or reference them in this assignment (only 1 website is permitted out of the 5-6 secondary sources). You must conduct and incorporate an originally designed interview, observation, and survey and cite or reference each in this assignment. Exhibit good ethos and triangulation when researching, analyzing, and incorporating data. In total, you must cite or reference 8-9 total sources in this assignment.
Design and incorporate visuals into this assignment. Visuals can be a great way to represent data; however, do not exceed 1-2 visuals in the document and follow instructor guidelines for incorporating and citing visuals. At least 1 visual must be originally created and designed. Highlight the caption of the originally designed visual in yellow.
Establish and thoroughly explain the relationship(s) between your hypothesis, the problem-based exigency of the project, the goal of the project, your research questions, and your data.
Give a solid, detailed, critical analysis explaining how the new information from the data you collect helps you draw conclusions about the hypothesis, research questions, problem-based exigency, and goal. Use the data to help you prove what you have to say about these conclusions.
Use MLA Format to cite the source work. (See an Online English Handbook or acquire a Success Center MLA Citation Guide for more information and templates. Or, click here for assistance with MLA Style and Format: MLA Formatting and Style Guide).
When you feel you are finished writing, be sure to allow yourself time to revise. Correct any mistakes you find during your own, personal revision. (A support system along with The Success Center can be helpful reviewers in the revision stage of the writing process).
Make final improvements to the publish and submit your final publish by or before the deadline.
